Training the body, mind and spirit with heart.

Kokoro Dojo, located in the seaside town of Grover Beach on California’s Central Coast, is dedicated to teaching the martial art of Morihei Ueshiba – O Sensei - the founder of Aikido. “Kokoro” translates as heart, mind, spirit, and represents the nature of practice at the dojo. Training aims at furthering the principles and philosophy of Aikido as envisioned by O Sensei: empowering oneself by developing a calm sense of center, improving physical conditioning and harnessing universal energy, building personal character and realizing mankind’s basic spiritual nature. Our approach aims to develop harmonious resolution of conflict and further peace in this world. Training focuses on empty-hands forms as well as Aiki Ken (sword) and Aiki Jo (staff) as originally conceived by the founder.

At Kokoro Dojo we train robustly, treat all as decent human beings and maintain an attitude of protection for all living things.
